The FY 2026 ICD-10-CM guidelines, effective October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026, are published by CMS and the National Center for Health Statistics. These guidelines accompany the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification and provide rules for coding and reporting diagnoses in all healthcare settings.
The guidelines have been approved by the American Hospital Association, American Health Information Management Association, CMS, and NCHS. They are required under HIPAA and must be used alongside the official ICD-10-CM Tabular List and Alphabetic Index published on the NCHS website ICD10Data.
